i finally wandered over to the de young museum to see the ralph eugene meatyard collection. it was only a few years ago when i first came upon his photographs, and everything i’ve learned about meatyard since has come in small excerpts from books and articles written about him. seeing the exhibit at the museum today was definitely an inspiration. this photograph here was one of my favourites of the collection, but there were many that i have never seen elsewhere that were possibly even more hauntingly zen than the most popular of his pictures… it’s worth a visit if you’re in san francisco.
