The Creators of LA: Photographer Andy J. Scott
For the last 10 months, self-taught photographer Megan McIsaac has been traveling the West Coast in an RV — a 1977 Toyota “Dolphin” — and gathering portraits of friends and creative types she met along the way. Now settled in Los Angeles with a Mamiya c330 camera, McIsaac decided to document the community that’s inspired so much of her work: Tumblr. This is part of a series of photographic profiles.

Andy’s vision has a very “no-fuss” attitude, and while his photographs are not deeply personal, they certainly have a sense of humor. We met at a local cafe and learned that we live only a few blocks from one another, on the border of Silver Lake and Koreatown, and we decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood (which is where we came upon the kitten). Andy spends a lot of time making photographs on similar walks, including a series of portraits called “Out Here,” taken in an alleyway off of Fairfax Avenue.
